I spent the day with the fantastic Paul Wynne at the Dell Customer Solution Center in Limerick Ireland. The trip was planned as a training exercise for some of the members of my team but as ever the trip was really informative and it was great to see the latest new technologies and business solutions available from Dell. During our visit we covered both VMware SDDC solutions and how VxRail interacts and enhances these capabilities, we visited the innovation center looking at the business aligned IoT solutions and much more.
Below is my doodle from the third general session at Dell Technologies World. The session entitled optimism and happiness in the digital age documents the panel discussion including will.i.am that took place in the main stage.
The video below depicts my views and thoughts from this general session and the conference in general
In this video I discuss the announcements of the day, including:
The new Dell EMC Unity XT arrays
Improvements into the single cluster scale for Isilon now up to 58PB in a single namespace over 252 devices
An analytics engine for VxRail for proactive management and to ensure performance is maintained called ACE (Analytical Consulting Engine)
A brand new storage platform PowerProtect available in both an appliance the X400 which comes in a hybrid and all flash configuration or as a software only solution
14 new Latitude Devices on the 25 birthday of the Latitude brand
and much more
This doodle was created live during the mornings general session whilst the announcements were happening live
Some more details on the announcements was given during the media and analysts briefing, the doodle above was created during that briefing
Today we saw three major announcements from Dell at Dell Technologies World which is taking place at the Venitian Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. All of today’s announcements focused on their relationship with VMware under the heading "better together". Whilst VMware remains a separate company they are increasingly working closely with Dell On joint solutions. Michael Dell emphasised that this special relationship gives them key differentiation to the competition.
Please see my video covering these announcements and my doodles from the day below.

I hosted an event with Dell and Ruckus regarding the future of your networking looking into wired and wireless use cases.
One of the most interesting subjects for me was the conversation around IoT and the demand on your network and infrastructure.
We will be digging deep into the future of your infrastructure, workspace and security at our next event taking place in Bristol UK with VMware’s EMEA VP and CTO Joe Baguley and many more. I have worked a lot the Dell EMC mid-range storage portfolio over the years, at Storage Field Day 14 it was my first opportunity to hear Dell present the whole combined portfolio as one in a customer facing environment. Dell discussed by the Unity and SC products, their features and functionality. With the new combined portfolio, Dell EMC has a product for everyone in the midmarket space.

I really enjoyed learning about VMAX at Storage Field Day 14, not only does it have a great legacy within DellEMC and supports many thousands of mission-critical workloads, the latest innovations also allow increased performance and scalability to meet modern-day needs.
